Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Ijeaku mobile application ('the App'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ('Terms'). Please read them carefully before using the App.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Ijeaku. By using the App, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Ijeaku.app. By ticking the acceptance checkbox at signup, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Ijeaku is a personal finance tracking and budgeting application that helps you:

• Track your income and expenses across budget categories
• Set and monitor a personalised budget based on your financial situation
• Track savings goals and investment contributions
• Monitor your financial health over time through a health score
• Coordinate rotating savings groups (Ajo, Susu, Stokvel, and similar)
• Set bill reminders and track recurring obligations
• Track your net worth across assets and liabilities

Please read this section carefully. It is important.

Ijeaku is a financial tracking and budgeting tool. It is NOT:

• A bank or financial institution
• A licensed financial advisor or investment advisor
• A regulated financial service
• A guarantee of financial outcomes

All budget recommendations, financial health scores, savings suggestions, investment projections, and coaching content provided by Ijeaku are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute financial advice, investment advice, or any form of regulated financial guidance.

The Ijeaku Method, budget percentages, and recommendations are general frameworks that may not be suitable for your specific financial situation. Past performance of investment suggestions is not indicative of future results.

You are solely responsible for all financial decisions you make. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified, licensed financial advisor before making significant financial decisions including but not limited to investments, taking on debt, or significant changes to your financial arrangements.

Ijeaku, its directors, employees, and agents accept no liability for financial losses or adverse outcomes resulting from your use of the App or reliance on its recommendations.

You agree to use Ijeaku only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any Nigerian or applicable international law
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract the source code of the App
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or scrape the App
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the App to facilitate money laundering, financial crime, or any illegal financial activity
• Create false or misleading financial records within the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or its servers
• Attempt to circumvent any security or access control measures

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice.

When participating in Ajo groups on Ijeaku, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Ijeaku does not hold, transfer, move, or guarantee any funds in Ajo groups
• All money movement occurs directly between group members outside the App
• Ijeaku provides tracking and accountability tools only
• You participate in Ajo groups entirely at your own risk
• We are not responsible for any disputes, defaults, or financial losses arising from Ajo group participation
• Group admins are solely responsible for the management and administration of their groups
• You must not use Ajo group features to facilitate unlawful financial schemes

We strongly recommend only participating in Ajo groups with people you know and trust personally.

You own your personal and financial data entered into Ijeaku. We process it solely to provide the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may export your data at any time using the Export feature in Settings (Premium feature). You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

By using the App, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your data for the purpose of providing the Ijeaku service.

The Ijeaku application, including its name, logo, Ije mascot, The Ijeaku Method framework, design, features, and all content created by us, is owned by Ijeaku.app and protected by Nigerian and international intellectual property laws.

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the App without our written permission
• Use the Ijeaku name, logo, or Ije mascot without our written permission
• Claim ownership of or rebrand any part of the App

Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

We aim to keep Ijeaku available at all times but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free access. We may:

• Perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts service, with notice where possible
• Update, modify, or discontinue features with reasonable notice
• Suspend access in cases of security incidents or legal requirements

We are not liable for any losses resulting from temporary unavailability of the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and the App at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Nigerian law:

• Ijeaku is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties of any kind
• We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components
• We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of budget recommendations, health scores, or any financial content in the App
• We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App
• We are not liable for any financial losses resulting from reliance on information or recommendations provided by the App
• Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App is limited to the total amount you paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

• Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
• Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
• Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Nigerian law

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ijeaku.app, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the App in violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Any financial decisions you make based on App recommendations

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In the event of a dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting [email protected]. We will attempt to resolve disputes within 30 days.

If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

For users in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

The App integrates with third-party services including Apple App Store and Google Play Store (payments), Supabase (data storage), Expo (push notifications), and Resend (email). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party providers.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ijeaku.app regarding your use of Ijeaku and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
